The Ketawa program provides scaffolded support for teachers with limited experience of Indonesian language who will need to implement a language in schools for Year 3 students in 2018.
The bespoke teacher guide, lesson plans and Train-the-Trainer professional learning activities have been created for teachers and students in Western Australia. The project was commissioned by the Department of Education in Western Australia. Resources
and lessons are aligned to the Western Australian Languages Curriculum.
Accessible HTML pages allow students and teachers to hear Indonesian languages and complete activities online. Engaging student work portfolios connect students with the language and create materials for assessment for teachers.
It is expected that over 100 schools will use the program in 2018 with Year 3 students. Course materials to support students and teachers in Years 4 to 6 are currently in production.
